This is very true. In my opinion i would prefer to lose honorably than to win knowing i cheated. Losing honorably is better than cheating because if you cheat you will be looked down upon and shamed by not only those close to you but also by the people around you. The lesson here is to not cheat. Even if you know you are going to lose don't let it change your mind to make you you cheat. Lose honorably.
